I have been missing in action for a few months but I still have some gorgeous pictures to share. Below are some pictures taken recently on a fishing trip in Ontario Canada. I wish I could say I caught the fish below, but I didn't. That was the handy work of my daughter! She caught 11 fishes that day! I'm so proud of her!

Hampton School - Badly Damaged

HAMPTON SCHOOL, my alma mater has once again sustained extensive damage in the recent hurricane. Valhalla was badly damaged along with many of the pianos as well as the computer lab with over 100 machines. The Principal's residence, the tennis court and many class rooms will have to be repaired.

Below are some pictures showing some of the damage.

Adrian Lester - Jamaican Heritage

My favourite BBC Television show is Hustle. I always found Adrian Lester's character to be strong and articulate. Thereafter I began watching other movies that Adrian appeared in. Yes, I became an Adrian Lester fan! I later discovered that his parents were Jamaicans.

BBC TV has a programme called "Empire's Children" . It traces the history of Britian's famous . Tonight they are featuring Adrian Lester and I wish you could watch it too. It was quite interesting and I loved the nostalgic feeling of seeing the images from home and listening to the good ole Jamaican talk.

The documentary traces his family history which took him to St Mary. You could see he liked the lush greenery, but he seemed to have appreciated the sacrifices his grandfather made start a new life in Britain. He now understood his roots and the significance of the name "Lester."

It was interesting to see the documents which were unearthed in Birmingham which showed the attitudes of British people towards "coloured immigrants".

Adrian's grandparents and mother were from Lester Hill, St Mary. He was born in Birmingham and now lives in South East London.

Protecting Coral Reef

I now realize I have to upgrade my camera to get one that is waterproof. I was totally amazed at the beauty which lay beneath the sea. I'm so drawn to corals and their unique colours and beauty.

I'm just hoping that people will become more aware of their fragile nature and will make every effort to protect them.

Here are some tips on how to protect our Coral Reef.

Educate yourself about coral reefs and the creatures they support. Find out about their usefulness. The medicines that have been developed from them

Do not empty waste into the ocean or rivers. If you are a boat owner ensure that you do all that is necessary to ensure that waste or pollutants do not escape from our boat into the water.

When you dive do not touch the coral or step on them. They are fragile living organisms. Take only pictures of them. Leave nothing behind to destroy them.

Do not leave trash behind when you go to the beach ad pick up trash when you see them. Help be the eyes and ears of the reef! Your involvement can make a big difference.

Don’t anchor on the reef. If you are boating near a coral reef, use mooring buoy systems when they are available.

When exploring the reefs use a trained and certified diver.

7. Spread the word. Get your friends and family involved. The more enthusiastic you are about preserving these fragile creatures the more you will get others to care too.

As we celebrate our 45th anniversary of independence in Jamaica and celebrate Emancipation Day, we are faced once again with the incredible thinking of those who lead our country.

The Jamaican Battalion are here in London to be part of the Queen's guards and provide entertainment for the Queen's adoring fans at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen's Guard is scheduled to change at Buckingham Palace at 1130 hours and the ceremony finishes at 12 noon.

The Jamaican Battalion will appear on the following dates:

Jamaican regiment to guard Buckingham Palace

The Jamaican Defence Force is to guard Queen Elizabeth II's Buckingham Palace for a month starting Thursday, a military chief said, as the island celebrates 45 years of independence. Soldiers from the 1st Battalion Jamaican Regiment will mount The Queen's Guard at the monarch's official residence on alternate days.

Though Queen Elizabeth is the head of state of Britain, Jamaica and 14 other realms and territories, it is rare for overseas troops to mount The Queen's Guard at Buckingham Palace. Jamaica, a former British colony, obtained its independence on August 6, 1962. "Competition for the opportunity of coming to London to mount The Queen's Guard has been fierce, training has been intense and the best of my men are looking forward to the honour of guarding Her Majesty," said the regiment's commander Colonel Derek Robinson.

They will also stand guard at Windsor Castle at the end of July. The centuries-old castle west of London is widely seen as her favourite residence. A 34-strong military and regimental band will accompany the soldiers on their trip to Britain, and will entertain London with traditional military tunes and Jamaican reggae numbers.

The band will play in St James's Park, next to Buckingham Palace, on Emancipation Day, August 1 and Independence Day.

As I traverse the hilly landscape of St Vincent, one thing that was evident was that the Government, with the support of the UNDP, was making efforts to promote CARICOM and CSME.

If Lady Scotland had heeded the advice of a lecturer at London University she might not have been where she is today.

One of 12 children born in Dominica to a family of rich Caribbean landowners, she was brought to Britain when she was three.

She studied law despite a lecturer's warning that being black and female might be too big a hurdle to overcome.

How wrong he was, now that Gordon Brown has named her attorney general, the chief legal adviser to the government - the first woman to hold the post.

After her legal studies, Lady Scotland practised family law - not a field noted for high-flyers - as a barrister.

Yet even then, her talents were noticed. She was officially nudged by the last Conservative lord chancellor, Lord Mackay, to apply for silk at the unusually early age of 35, years before she herself would have thought of applying. He was intent on making her the country's first woman high court judge.

But Tony Blair beat him to the punch by nominating her for a life peerage on a Labour party list of working peers.

Patricia Scotland became Baroness Scotland of Asthal - the Oxfordshire village where she and her barrister husband live with their two sons. In due course she became the first black woman appointed a minister in the government.

She was reckoned to have been a good Lords performer in her Foreign Office job as junior minister responsible for the Caribbean and Britain's overseas territories. During her time there, she did no harm to her image by abseiling down a crevasse while on a foreign office trip to Antarctica.

Her next job was altogether tougher. The first woman lawyer to be made a minister of state in the lord chancellor's department, she assumed responsibility for the department's bills in the upper house.

She had the daunting task of defending the government's criminal justice bill plans for judge-only trials in serious and complex fraud cases.

Some thought she was too nice for the job and wondered whether she could deal with peers highly versed on such legal matters.

But she was confident, good at her job, on top of her brief; she worked hard and held her own. In the words of one veteran lobby correspondent, although Lady Scotland had been in the Lords for only five minutes, she looked as if she had been there for generations. In 2004, Channel 4 voted her "peer of the year".

Parlatuvier Bay - Tobago

Tobago is indeed an ideal spot for a honeymoon. There were several "hideaway" spots and unspoilt beaches. Perfect to just relax and enjoy the moment with someone special.

Above is my favourite view of all - Parlatuvier Bay. It's located on the Caribbean Sea side of the island. Off the coast you'll find Sisters Rocks!

Don't forget to visit the amazing Bucco Reef ! Take a trip on one of the party boats and swim in the amazing "pool of youth".

Costa Rica imposes visa on Jamaicans

Jamaicans wishing to travel to Costa Rica will need to obtain visas.
However, Jamaicans who have valid visas to enter the United States or countries within Europe are excluded, the Costa Rican Embassy said.

The embassy further advised that all persons wishing to enter Costa Rica must have a valid certificate of vaccination against yellow fever.

Born of Jamaican parents from Smithville in Clarendon, British Member of Parliament Diane Abbott, yesterday reached a milestone in political history as she celebrated her 20th anniversary since becoming the United Kingdom’s first black female MP.

“I cannot believe that it is 20 years since I was first elected,” Ms. Abbott said in a release. “The years seem to have gone by in the twinkling of an eye. One of my proudest moments was election day in 1987. I was the first black woman ever elected to Parliament.”Ms. Abbott reminisced that, throughout the campaign period, people kept telling her she would not have been victorious.

Only two black women still “When they announced the result in Hackney Town Hall it felt like a dream,” she said. “My mother was there at the count and she was ready to burst with pride. My biggest regret is that, after 20 years, there are still only two black women.”

Since that time, Ms. Abbott, who has represented the constituency of Hackney North and Stoke Newington, has become recognised as both an advocate for local issues and a staunch supporter of international campaigns.

Over the course of her political career she has spoken out against the Iraq war, stop and search powers, nuclear weapons and the Guantanamo Bay detention centres.

She has waged long-standing campaigns on black educational underachievement, gun crime, and gender and racial discrimination. She has since built a distinguished career as a parliamentarian, broadcaster and commentator.

We cannot afford to be blacklisted

As I browse the papers this morning, I observed that following the arrest of the men who allegedly were involved in a plot to blow up the JFK, that our beautiful region is now being blacklisted. The region depends on foreign investment and the stability of our economy and therefore we can not afford to be accused of being a region that breeds terrorist.

Trinidad and Guyana has a large Indian population, many of who are practicing Muslims. Does that make them terrorist? Do they have the means or the inclination? I say no! Our people are not extremist or fanatics.

As the region marches towards uniting under the CSME, we are fully aware of the various stereotypes against us individually. Many persons from the region face the ordeal of going through the stress of obtaining a visa and sometimes to be sniffed upon with dogs as we travel. Often times our people are viewed as guilty until proven innocent. Just imagine what it would be like to have the added stigma of being terrorists!

We can not afford to be blacklisted as a region. We depend on foreign investment, trade and tourism to survive.

I trust that the CARICOM Heads of Government are meeting immediately to formulate a united strategy to protect our region.

Pitch Lake - Trinidad

The Pitch Lake in Trinidad is one of the 3 natural asphalt/ tar reserves in the world. The others may be found in California and Venezuela.

It is located approximately 45 minutes south of San Fernando in an area known as La Brea, off the south western coast of Trinidad.

According to our tour guide, the area was discovered by Sir Walter Raleigh in the 1500's and he used the tar from the area to "patch" his ships.

The pitch is "mined" 2 times per day and is processed in nearby plant and then exported to make asphalt for road surfaces, batteries, etc. Although the tar is mined regularly the area naturally refills itself in a matter of hours.

The lake spew tar and water at the same time and the water is pumped from the lake on a regular basis.

Many view that bathing in the lake has therapeutic values. Our tour guide referred to it as "the fountain of youth". We could see the yellow sulphuric acid bubbling up to the surface in various spot. They believe that if you bathe and wash your hair in this water, skin aliments and dandruff problems would disappear.

The official our cost is TT$30/ US$5, so beware of unofficial tour guides who charge as much as US$25!

Female Chief Justice for Jamaica

Justice Zallia McCalla has been appointed the first female Chief Justice of Jamaica with effect from June 27, 2007.

Congratulations! Another woman leads Jamaica. Let's hope that with this appointment comes radical and much need change within our judicial system.

I trust that one of the first issues on My Lady's agenda is the Caribbean Court of Justice!

My Journey to Toco - Trinidad

When I arrived in Trinidad, I received rave reviews about Toco, which is the North Eastern section of the island. I heard how beautiful the beaches were and how it was the most ideal place to visit on the island.

Being the adventurer I am, I decided to hitch a ride to the area. ( With someone from work). We departed at 5:30 am from Port of Spain.

On my way up, Raymond became my tour guide. He graciously stopped at the various hideaway spots to show me the beautiful spots along the way. These included Matura Bay, Salybia Bay , Cumana Bay , Galeria Point and another Salybia Bay. Why there were 2 Salybia Bays in the same area was beyond me. Did they run out of names?

Most of the beaches were unspoilt! Some would say under developed. But it was an awesome feeling to experience the natural beauty of the rugged beaches.

We arrived at his mother's home which over looked Mission Bay. She gave us breakfast and then we went "a touring " with her as she visited Toco Radio station and a few other places to do her usual community work.

The plan was that they would drop me off at one of the villa's nearby. However, Miss Gloria decided to take me on and play my mother for the weekend. I am eternally grateful to her for taking me into her home and sharing her life and family with me.

Turtle Watching - Trinidad

I had a terrific weekend exploring the North Eastern section of Trinidad. One of the things I did was turtle watching.

The leather back turtles were amazing to see and feel! They were soo huge! The longest one I saw was about 4feet 5inches! It was wonderful to watch the turtle come ashore and choose it's spot. The guides say that the temperature of the location where the eggs are laid determine the sex of the turtles. Places nearer to the water, the cooler spot, produces males and the warmer section produces females.

I watched as a turtle carefully selected a spot and then started digging with its fins in a methodical way. She dug a bulb shaped hole and then deposited her eggs. Some eggs were yolk-less eggs, which they say help to cushion and provide breathing space for the baby turtles, who will have to find it's way up from beneath the sand in about 66 days.

The turtle was careful about the manner in which it laid and covered its eggs. So patient and calm. I truly admired the process. I know I'd be upset ( to put it mildly) to have to dig a hole before giving birth ( not to mention to over 20 babies) and then turn around and cover it up!

Turtle watching is famous here in Trinidad and the season is May - August. The owner of the place said that there were approximately 300 persons that night. Normally they to accept people up to 11pm. However last Saturday night as I left just after midnight, I saw several vehicles pulling in. People were showing up with igloos as if they were going on a picnic.

The area isn't the most sophisticated. Don't expect to find a 5 star hotel. However, you can stay at Nature Seekers, where the rooms were clean and fairly comfortable for overnight accommodation. ( see the pictures) . Or if you are blessed as I was, you will meet a wonderful Trinidadian like Miss Gloria, who welcomes you into her home! That's a much better experience!

I am grateful that although there was no sun this morning, I woke with a song in my heart
I am grateful that as the rain pored down, I was thinking "Lord rain down your blessings on me"
I am grateful that I have memories of turtles swimming to the shore
I am grateful that I saw them lay their eggs 20 and more
I am grateful that I heard my daughter's voice every day this past weekend
I am grateful for Miss Gloria and her family
I am grateful that I found a family full of love and kindness
I am grateful that I could see and capture the images of unspoilt beaches
I am grateful that I climbed a mango tree, something I haven't done since thirteen
I am grateful that I arrived safely to Sangre Grande, even after the taxi driver stopped to pick up a STAG beer, Lord have mercy!
I am grateful that it only cost me $TT10 from Toco to Sangre Grande, $TT6 to Arima and TT$7 to Port of Spain
I am grateful that I arrived "home" safely at 8 pm
I am grateful that I can share this experience with my friends here.

Mr. Morrison is a senior practitioner at the Bar in Jamaica and a partner in the firm of Dunn Cox. He is a former President of the Jamaica Bar Association and Chairman of the Council of Legal Education. He lectures at the Norman Manley Law School and is a Rhodes Scholar.

( He is also someone I have always held in high esteem!)

I accept the Nobel Prize for Peace at a moment when twenty-two million Negroes of the United States of America are engaged in a creative battle to end the long night of racial injustice. I accept this award in behalf of a civil rights movement which is moving with determination and a majestic scorn for risk and danger to establish a reign of freedom and a rule of justice.

I am mindful that only yesterday in Birmingham, Alabama, our children, crying out for brotherhood, were answered with fire hoses, snarling dogs and even death. I am mindful that only yesterday in Philadelphia, Mississippi, young people seeing to secure the right to vote were brutalized and murdered. And only yesterday more than 40 houses of worship in the State of Mississippi alone were bombed or burned because they offered a sanctuary to those who would not accept segregation.

I am mindful that debilitating and grinding poverty afflicts my people and chains them to the lowest rung of the economic ladder.

Therefore, I must ask why this prize is awarded to a movement which is beleaguered and committed to unrelenting struggle; to a movement which has not won the very peace and brotherhood which is the essence of the Nobel Prize.

After contemplation, I conclude that this award which I receive on behalf of that movement is profound recognition that nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral question of our time, the need for man to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to violence and oppression.

Civilization and violence are antithetical concepts. Negroes of the United States, following the people of India, have demonstrated that nonviolence is not sterile passivity, but a powerful moral force which makes for social transformation. Sooner or later all the people of the world will have to discover a way to live together in peace, and thereby transform this pending cosmic elegy into a creative psalm of brotherhood.

If this is to be achieved, man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love. The tortuous road which has led from Montgomery, Alabama, to Oslo bears witness to this truth. This is a road over which millions of Negroes are travelling to find a new sense of dignity.

This same road has opened for all Americans a new ear of progress and hope. It has led to a new Civil Rights bill, and it will, I am convinced, be widened and lengthened into a superhighway of justice as Negro and white men in increasing numbers create alliances to overcome their common problems.

I accept this award today with an abiding faith in America and an audacious faith in the future of mankind. I refuse to accept despair as the final response to the ambiguities of history. I refuse to accept the idea that the "isness"of man's present nature makes him morally incapable of reaching up for the eternal "oughtness"that forever confronts him.

I refuse to accept the idea that man is mere flotsom and jetsom in the river of life unable to influence the unfolding events which surround him. I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality.

I refuse to accept the cynical notion that nation after nation must spiral down a militaristic stairway into the hell of thermonuclear destruction. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant.

I believe that even amid today's motor bursts and whining bullets, there is still hope for a brighter tomorrow. I believe that wounded justice, lying prostrate on the blood-flowing streets of our nations, can be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men.

I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits. I believe that what self-centered men have torn down, men other-centered can build up. I still believe that one day mankind will bow before the altars of God and be crowned triumphant over war and bloodshed, and nonviolent redemptive goodwill will proclaim the rule of the land.

I still believe that we shall overcome.

This faith can give us courage to face the uncertainties of the future. It will give our tired feet new strength as we continue our forward stride toward the city of freedom. When our days become dreary with low-hovering clouds and our nights become darker than a thousand midnights, we will know that we are living in the creative turmoil of a genuine civilization struggling to be born.

Today I come to Oslo as a trustee, inspired and with renewed dedication to humanity. I accept this prize on behalf of all men who love peace and brotherhood. I say I come as a trustee, for in the depths of my heart I am aware that this prize is much more than an honor to me personally.
Every time I take a flight I am always mindful of the man people who make a successful journey possible, the known pilots and the unknown ground crew.

So you honor the dedicated pilots of our struggle who have sat at the controls as the freedom movement soared into orbit. You honor, once again, Chief (Albert) Luthuli of South Africa, whose struggles with and for his people, are still met with the most brutal expression of man's inhumanity to man.

You honor the ground crew without whose labor and sacrifices the jet flights to freedom could never have left the earth.

Most of these people will never make the headlines and their names will not appear in Who's Who. Yet when years have rolled past and when the blazing light of truth is focused on this marvelous age in which we live, men and women will know and children will be taught that we have a finer land, a better people, a more noble civilization, because these humble children of God were willing to suffer for righteousness' sake.

I think Alfred Nobel would know what I mean when I say that I accept this award in the spirit of a curator of some precious heirloom which he holds in trust for its true owners, all those to whom beauty is truth and truth beauty, and in whose eyes the beauty of genuine brotherhood and peace is more precious than diamonds or silver or gold.

Tornado in London

This morning as I was getting ready to depart at approximately 11:30 am, a sudden down pour of rain, lightening and thuder struck! Sudden darkeness decended and a massive thunderstorm erupted! Was I back in the Caribbean and a hurricane struck??

I got worried that I wouldn't make my meeting, so I started looking for my supervisor's number to call. By the time I found the number and looked outside the sky was bright! Sun shinning! It was as if nothing happened! Did I imagine it all??

Anyway, I quickly ran to the train station and went to my meeting. My supervisors were marvelling about the same experience.

When I got home I saw on the news that a Tornado had erupted in North West London. 6 people were injured and several homes destroyed. The "attack" lasted less than a minute , they say, but the winds were in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The area was quarantined and so many people can't even get into the area to go investigate their homes.

I will try to get some shots later. In the meantime here are some highlights!

I must "big up" Miss Daphaney and her staff for taking care of me this year. Mass Charlie, thanks or those special stew peas with pigs' tail!

This is where I found truly authentic Jamaican meals and excellent service. I travelled more than an hour, just to savour her delicious meals! Often by the time I get back home, I would be hungry! The bus would jerk everything out of my system! However, I always return home with a piece of her potato pudding or some Jamaican crackers to drink with my lemon & ginger tea!

JAMAICA'S INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION -(LONDON)

At approximately 10 minutes to mid night last night, ( 4.8.06) while reading the online version of the Jamaica Observer, I discovered that there would be a service of praise and thanksgiving in celebration of the 44th Anniversary of Jamaica's independence.

I decided that I could not miss this event, as it was an opprtunity to worship and meet and mingle with my people.

So being the punctual person I usually am and wanting to get a spectacular view to take some awesome pictures, I arrived at approximately 10 am. (The service was scheduled to start at 11 am.)

When I arrived at Trafalgar Square and looked across to St Martin-in-the Fields, I saw a number of persons standing on the steps. I didn't let that bother me. I thought " good, the organisers are there to make sure everything goes smoothly".

I approached the church. Chit chatted a little with a few collegues who were ushers and then went in.....

Lo and behold ...the church was full! There were no seats downstairs! There were only "reserved" seats. I looked at my watch....it was only 10:15 am!!!

And yet they criticise us and talk about "Jamaica time".

Well friends, I had to go upstairs and let me tell you something, if it weren't for The kindness of an old man and his grand-daughter ( bless them) I wouldn't be able to get a glimpse.

Well since I don't yet own a fancy camera with great zoom lens...once again this is the best I could do.

P.S. I won't do the commentary thing of the day's proceedings...I'm sure JIS will do that!

Santa Cruz, my home town is nothing like when I was growing up.

Gone are the days when everyone knew each other and their family history. Instead I see many new faces and businesses. Most of the old all gone. So when I ask about the "shoemaker next to Bata", everyone looks at me strangely. They ask,"Where is Bata? You mean the shoemaker near L.C Stationery? "

Then most of the stalwarts were either migrated, dead or barely remembered you or your name. Others had an empty look on their faces as if to say, "yeah we are still here...what fi do..."

Who are the new leaders?

Then when I drive around town and I see new lawyers, doctors, pharmacists, business people and no one seem to know from whence they came ...I'm left wondering....

Santa Cruz has many talented people who are making significant contibutions to other communities locally and abroad. Yet for one reason or another, a decision was made not to invest in the community directly.

I look at the the numerous businesses and yet I wonder about their viability.

I wonder about "town planning" and the organisation of the community.

One thing remains the same ....."it hot, nuh hell!"

I drove through Santa Cruz last weekend and I'm left .........thinking........wondering.....

Da Vinci Code & The 06-06-06 Hype

The 2 most controversial films of the year The Da Vinci Code and The Omen have shown me that the way to make money through film "now a days" is to offend the church! How else would they get people to go see these movies?

I must say for me, it was curiosity to see what the hype was about. (Yes, I missed Omen 1 and I didn’t read the book!)

But I was thoroughly disappointed as the plots were very predictable, the acting extremely flat or exaggerated and I was simply left wondering if I had fallen asleep and missed the great stuff!

Both movies failed to captivate or stimulate in any way. Hollywood’s quest for fact to turn into fiction has simply failed once more.

The Da Vinci Code which has affected the church and the legal community, created an unjustified hype. (Quite like Angelina Jolie and her newborn Shiloh .You would have thought the child was born on the 6th of June! But that is another story!)

The movie had the trappings of a great movie - best selling author, controversial topic, award winning actor - Tom Hanks and beautiful settings. The sad thing is that the movie failed to captivate any of my senses. In fact, I remember thinking close to the end of the movie, “ I’m watching a movie, so why am I still bored?”

So when the Catholic Church says “don’t go see it”. Trust me, you need not spend your money to see it. Read the reviews if you are curious.

As for the ominous Omen, apart from the occasional graphic "murders", the movie failed to spark any “fear” or “interest” for that matter. Provoking the church, releasing the movie 06-06-06 was a good marketing strategy. If you go see it, you will just be left feeling annoyed that they couldn’t come up with a more captivating way to present the "end time" story.

The plots of both movies were predictable and the scenes seem to ramble on to their fatuous conclusion.

If there was any lesson to be learnt from these two so-called “evil films”, it is that talent has indeed left Hollywood. (Hey Jamaicans here’s your chance)!

(P.S. By the way to my friends and family, I was taking a “beat break”! You know how valuable my time is. So you can imagine how disappointed I was that the movies failed to enlighten or entertain!!!)

May 4, 2006 was considered to be the warmest day since spring in London. Everyone who could, was outside enjoying the sunlight. Man, woman, boy, child and animal. For the first time I was truly in love with London! People were holding hands. Smiling and nodding "hellos"! Hyde Park was like Negril in Jamaica! There are just some places that give you a sense of peace, calm and total relief. McConnell's Mill is one of those places for me. Thanks to Ingrid, I now have another place to relax, think, write and take beautiful photographs.

Just some basic info - McConnell's Mill State Park is nestled in the gorge of Slippery Rock Creek in Pennsylvania. It was built in 1868 by Thomas McConnell. Perfect spot for picnic, or to meditate.

If you are a romantic at heart and love history, then you must walk the streets of Philadelphia with your dearest one night!

My friends know I don't like to walk far distances. Yes, I'm kind of lazy with the exercise regime. However, I was totally captivated by the impressive layout and immaculate streets, which jolted me back 16th century. I was captured by the genius of Benjamin Franklyn and William Penn. Both men will forever be celebrated in Philly for their insight, dedication and creativity.

As I walked along Walnut and 2nd Street, I am reminded of Paris. The streets were lined with restaurants from the sophisticated to the ...shall I say... "down to earth". ( No cry babies!)

You cannot visit Philly without having the famous "Philly cheese steak"!

Place to stay - Embassy Suites - central and comfortable

Places to visit - All the museums (if you are a history freak, like myself) , City Hall, Liberty Bell, Carpenter's Hall, Independence Hall, National Constitution Centre, U.S. Mint, Betty Ross House ( she designed the American flag). If you are a "Rocky" fan, you'll be right at home here.Boy, talk about the birthplace of " life liberty and the pursuit of happiness"!

If you are looking for all night shopping, forget Philly. The stores are closed by 7 p.m....go to the clubs and restaurants with your loved one! Or just walk hand in hand through the city!

I didn’t have the time to do climb up the "Rocky steps" and do my thing, but next time…

I had only an hour to capture a few shots, before I was wisked off to my duties...so enjoy...
