MARCUS GARVEY

Today as I reflect on my worth as a dynamic, black woman, I thought I'd share some quotes from Marcus Garvey, National Hero of my beloved Jamaica.
Feel free to send me more!
"If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started."
"God and Nature first made us what we are, and then out of our own created genius we make ourselves what we want to be. Follow always that great law. Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement."

"Let it be your constant method to look into the design of people's actions, and see what they would be at, as often as it is practicable; and to make this custom the more significant, practice it first upon yourself."

"The Black skin is not a badge of shame, but rather a glorious symbol of national greatness"
"The whole world is run on bluff"
"For man to know himself is for him to feel that for him there is no human master"

Places to Eat in London, Part 1

DAPHANIE'S TASTE OF THE CARIBBEAN
173 Peckham High Street
London SE15 5SL
020 7252 8666
Open Mondays - Saturday
(Catch Miss Daph in Church on Sunday)

I must "big up" Miss Daphaney and her staff for taking care of me this year. Mass Charlie, thanks or those special stew peas with pigs' tail!
This is where I found truly authentic Jamaican meals and excellent service. I travelled more than an hour, just to savour her delicious meals! Often by the time I get back home, I would be hungry! The bus would jerk everything out of my system! However, I always return home with a piece of her potato pudding or some Jamaican crackers to drink with my lemon & ginger tea!

Here is a list of some of the things you find on the menu:

Ackee & Saltfish
Stew Peas with Pigs' Tail
Curry Mutton
Curry Chicken
Oxtail and Beans
Steam Fish
Cow Foot
Drinks: Soursop, Carrot, Guinness Punch, Irish Moss, Magnum Punch
Oh and don't forget the good ole Jamaican Busta!
